Youth Page

Our Youth have had a blast this summer.  We took the first week of June and stayed at Tugaloo State Park near Toccoa Georgia.  While there we ventured to the Nantahala River in North Carolina and braved the 53 degree water temperature and conquered the rapids (all that  means is that we went white water rafting).  We also spent two days at the lake where we water skied and tubed behind a boat.

During the week of camp we began to learn exactly what Jesus meant when he said we are to be SALT and LIGHT in Matthew chapter 5.  The weekend was filled with WOW Weekend 2009 at the Georgia Baptist Conference Center where we were introduced to a Christian Illusionist named Drew Worrsham.  We also enjoyed some amazing worship where a number of our students came to realize that they were not living a life that is honoring God so they made the decision to repent of their current lifestyle and turn to a lifestyle that honors our Lord!

Below is a link to just some of the fun and worship that we had.  If you were not able to go with us on this trip I hope that you will be able to take advantage of some of the many more opportunities that we have to have fun while drawing closer to God.

Other pictures and events will be posted soon in order to keep you update of the excitement of being a member of the First Baptist St. Marys Student Ministry!!!

On July 9 the youth went to Fernandina Beach where we experienced an afternoon/evening of fun in the sun and surf.  This fun filled event included a lesson on how to start a fire with wet wood (use plenty of lighter fluid and have plenty of patience), a rematch of the previous volleball tournament, frisbee action, wave bashing (or is that just swimming?), roasting hotdogs by the fire, and SMORES (hoot! hoot!).  All of this was centered around a Bible Study about the woman that was caught in adultery and when accused and brought before Jesus he bent down and wrote siomething in the "sand" and all of the accusers put down their stones and left.

Below are some pictures to show you how much fun we actually had!
